Field notes Small tree; stem 220 x 8 cm, brown, smooth; crown of 15 lvs; petiole 200 cm; "sheaths" 5–7 cm wide, margin with hard, flat spines to 1 cm wide and 1 cm long; blade with very short hastula; segments 39 all around, deeply divided, almost to the hastula; shortest segment 43 cm long, longest segment 70 cm long, each segment with 3–5 nerves ending in separate tips; young infructescence interfoliar; peduncle 55 cm long; prophyll 20 x 2 cm; rachis 100 cm with 5 partial infructescences, each with 2–3 rachilla; rachillae 30 cm long, with ca. 20 fruits each; young fruits green, ovoid, 7 mm diam. In dense hill rainforest with Areca triandra and Iguanura wallichiana.
