| Field notes | Cespitose; stems 6, 2–8 m tall, 5 cm diam; lvs. 7 in crown; sheaths 45 cm; petiole 80 cm; rachis 170 cm; lamina 190 x 90 cm; pinnae 35 x 1 cm, 60 x 5 cm, 25 x15 cm, sigmoid; lamina flat; peduncle 2 cm; rachillae 4, 30–35 cm long; fruits green to yellow to orange. Insertion of fruits in P. malaiana supposed to be distiichous, here they are spiral. Similar P. scortechinii has erect inflorescence, here it is pendulous. |
